The Civil Engineering Department was started in 2011-12. The Department covers almost all areas of civil engineering such as design, construction, maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like bridge, roads, canals, dams, buildings etc. It is traditionally divided into several sub-disciplines: environmental engineering; geothermal engineering; structural engineering; municipal or urban engineering; water resources engineering; surveying and construction engineering.
Students are trained using laboratory facilities in the areas of electricity generation, transmission, distribution and control and also in design and manufacturing activities. A number of the lab experiments are kit based. The labs are well equipped with quality machinery and manned by experienced technical and lab assistants and capable of meeting the requirements and challenges faced by students.
